DONATION TO THE MSWPS ARCHIVES - MARCH, 2026.
The Society recently received a donation from Penny Richards who was going through her late mothers archives and emailed the Society as to whether we were interested in the collection of her great-aunt Eily Lormer (member 1953-1982).
More information can be found in the biography section of 'More Than Just Gumtrees' as well as an image of her work. Lormer was a member of the Contemporary Artists Society in Melbourne c.1950-60 and studied at the George Bell School in Melbourne c.1950-60.
The State Library of Victoria holds a large collection of her art as well as being documented in the correspondence of Paper of Sybil Craig also held in the State Library.
Among the donations are slides, exhibition catalogues, newspaper articles.
Included in this collection are two drawings by Sybil Craig (member 1901-1989) sent to Eily Lormer wishing Eily and Robert (Eily husband) a happy Christmas and New Year and a creative envelope using Textas by Sybil Craig.
The MSWPS was most fortunate to receive this valuable donation for our Archive Collection.
