President’s Report May 2025

With a late Easter this year and another long weekend for ANZAC Day, I hope everyone had the chance to enjoy meaningful time with family, friends, and fulfilling activities.

All members were invited to a Paint Out at Ola Cohn House and the surrounding parklands. I trust those who attended enjoyed the convivial atmosphere and the opportunity to share ideas and tips across our varied artistic disciplines.

Please keep an eye out for a special invitation coming in June. Ola Cohn’s great-nephew has kindly invited MSWPS members to afternoon tea and a private viewing of the family’s collection of her artworks and memorabilia. A MailChimp notice will be sent out soon, and further details will be available on our website.

Several members recently attended the Yayoi Kusama exhibition at the NGV, which is now closed. It was my third visit—and each time, I discovered something new and inspiring.

The Members Meeting Sub-Committee is currently planning an exciting calendar of activities and events for the year, aiming to offer a range of enriching experiences for us all.

Meanwhile, the Annual Exhibition Sub-Committee is working diligently behind the scenes to ensure a smooth process for entries, artwork delivery, presentation, and judging.

Anne Finkelde and Beatrice Magalotti are collaborating to update the MSWPS Operating Procedures Document. Once completed, both the updated document and our constitution will be made available for members to view on the website.

It’s encouraging to see that Box Hill Institute has begun maintenance work at Ola Cohn House, following discussions at our March meeting.

I’d also like to encourage all members to update their MSWPS website profiles. It’s a great platform to showcase your work. We'd love to see a profile image and some of your artworks featured on your page. The process is simple—just log in, open your Account/Profile, and drag and drop your images and text into the designated boxes. If you are having difficulty with the process, contact committee at: info@mswps.com.au .

Also remember to keep check on your email Junkbox. Depending on your provider, sometimes Mailchimp goes into the Junkbox.

Finally, Happy Birthday to all our artists celebrating in May!
