President’s Report November

Congratulations and well done MSWPS! The society’s 117th Annual Exhibition, Changing Perspectives, was yet another showcase of diversity and quality.

Many thanks to everyone who participated in the exhibition with their latest artworks.  We appreciate that finding two artworks for this exhibition can be challenging given our other commitments.

We are very grateful to Gwen Krumins, for loaning us two Joyce McGrath artworks for Joyce’s Tribute Exhibition.

Our successful display at the East Melbourne Library featuring archival information and three sculptural artworks was coordinated by Robyn Pridham and assisted by Vicki Birt.

The 2026 MSWPS exhibition was a grand affair, and we are grateful that both judges were able to attend the Opening on Saturday 10th October. The explanation given by Dr. Catherine Bell and Erika Gofton’s for their selections was valued by members. I was impressed with the diversity of selections this year, and it was exciting to see the thrill of each recipient receiving her award.

My heartfelt thanks go to all the volunteers, the committee, and members who assisted in organizing the exhibition, contributing to a smooth and efficient flow, from delivery day to collection day.

Two recently new regional members demonstrated aspects of their practices during the exhibition—read more about these in the News posts on our website.

The People’s Choice and Door Prize have been drawn, and the winners will be posted in the next Bulletin.

The MSWPS peer voting is completed, and the winner will be announced at the Christmas Lunch on Thursday December 3rd. Go to the website Events page to read more information regarding the Christmas Lunch.

Prior to this, please Register to attend the Fairfield Hall garden visit on Monday 16th November, Caulfield. We will be meeting at 10 am.

Further, a callout for Expressions of Interest for the 2027 Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show and the 2027 Affordable Art Fair will be posted shortly. Keep your eye on the Events page for these.

Finally, a very Happy Birthday to November born Members.
